While the title of this blog may seem (or sound) a bit pretentious, let us assure you that it’s not. The backup system and generator that you choose for the properties you manage is going to be the lifeblood of those properties at some time or another. There’s no other way around that simple fact. You can’t outrun it, you can’t deny it. Eventually an emergency will arise, whether by natural disaster, or the basic fact that not everything is guaranteed in life, and when it does, don’t you want to be assured that your property is going to run smoothly.

A BACKUP GENERATOR IS LIKE A PARACHUTE

While the two are not all that similar in the real world, as it pertains to you and your business, they are very much on the same level  for you. You never know when you are going to need it but when you do, don’t you want to make sure it works?. You would not jump out of a plane without a working parachute, so why do you run your facility without knowing for sure that your generator will work?

Let’s put it this way: would you get on an airplane to fly across the country for business knowing that the mechanic who worked on it (and the company that manages the care of the airplane) earned the job because they were the lowest bidder? Or the person who packed your parachute did not receive any formal training? While this doesn’t mean that the mechanic will be incapable of doing the job, would you really trust your life to someone who makes barely more than minimum wage for a company that is willing to underbid all others?

It’s doubtful that you’d allow that to happen, so why would you think that it’s fine to choose the cheapest service provider to service  your generator and backup system needs? An airplane has sensitive parts that must all work properly to remain safely in the air. A backup generator has many moving parts (it’s an engine, after all) that also must work properly and be maintained properly in order to operate effectively when you need it to.

MAKE THE SMART CHOICE

You’re savvy, smart, and dedicated. If you cut corners to try and save a few pennies when it comes to your backup generator, you could have a number of very angry clients, tenants or businesses that will lose money when your system fails when it needs to work the most. Make the effort, make the investment, and choose the right company.
